The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in the first quarter of 2020, presented economies worldwide with many challenges, and the Philippines was not left unscathed. Establishments shut down, businesses declared bankruptcy, and others began to retrench staff to keep their business afloat. But JobStreet, the online job portal, revealed that some industries are already actively recruiting to start fresh.

Here are the job openings that are actively hiring as of January 2021:

2. Government/Defense (21%)
3. Human Resources Management/Consulting (12%)
4. Education (9%)
5. Computer/IT Software (5%)
6. Other Specializations (3%)
7. Retail/Merchandise (3%)
8. Manufacturing/ Production (3%)

 

The gradual reopening of companies as individuals adapted to the new normal was also seen in the third quarter of 2020. With an average increase of 3 percent compared to the second quarter of 2020, job postings have grown. The volume of jobs in some industries also increases in the fourth quarter.

It is expected that businesses will recover soon from the effects of the pandemic with work-from-home schemes and flexible working hours in place for office industries.
