HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH WHILE ON WORK-FROM-HOME

September 07, 2021-weworkremotely.com
Every worker should know the steps to improve their mental health when working from home and shrug off the anxiety, depression, and loneliness many remote workers face.

Being isolated from people you care about creates a feeling of loneliness and longing which oftentimes results to anxiety, stress and pressure. To some, it can lead to angry outbursts, irritability, frustration, sleep disturbance, lack of energy, lack of concentration and focus, and physical problems, many of which are signs of depression.

To combat all these negative feelings, two things should be understood and accepted. First, that its okay not to be okay. Second, make a few adjustments to make your mind happy.

Weworkremotely.com suggests few steps to do to take care of your mental health when you are working from home.

1. Create a routine and stick to the schedule.
Schedule analog breaks and fun activities just like regular work tasks.
2. Upgrade your home office
Buy new or second-hand items such as wide desk, comfortable and ergonomic chair that supports your back, and very nice sound system.
3. Get up and move!
Get up early and do appropriate exercise routines that are fit for your body. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely.
4. Leave your house for the wonder of nature
Take a walk outside. It can reduce blood pressure and stress hormones.
5. Work around other humans
Meet up with co-workers at coffee shops or library near you and work with them.
6. Make time for your favorite people
Spend time with your friends or peers for a few hours to unwind.
7. Start Saying ‘No’
Set boundaries based on your schedule and workload. Find your limitations and don’t extend yourself beyond them.

Once you have mastered caring about your mental health, you will find the joy and freedom of work-from-home that you may not want to go back to traditional work again.
